The letters sent from Loretta Jaeger.
1st letter to father & grandfather, after the first day in Altdorf
Dear father and grandfather,
I hope this letter finds you both well!
Altdorf is very different from Vogel, if Vogel felt big then Altdorf is endless.
I have found a place to stay. It is damp and next to the river, but it is cheap.
Yesterday, after arriving at the apartment, I went straight to look for work. I found the office of "Blum & Garten", a law firm not far from where I am staying.
They knew who I was, but after a short interview they hired me! I will start tomorrow. First week is free, but I am determined to show them my worth.
Wish me luck!
Take care and I will write to you soon.
All my love,
Loretta
2nd letter to father & grandfather, after the first week in Altdorf
Dear father and grandfather,
I hope this letter finds you both well!
I have so much to write, but I will try to keep it brief.
This week I went to the Verena archives with Herr Garten. It is more or less a giant temple to Verena, where they keep copies of court records, contracts and such.
At the firm, I am more or less working as a combined-clerk-and-secretary. I write transcripts and copies of various documents to be filed at the archives, but I also answer the door, advise clients on less complex questions and making sure they are comfortable while in the firm.
I even have my own office. It is not bigger than a cleaning cupboard, but I like it that way.
But now for the real exciting news: I am working my own case! With the tuition and oversight by Herr Garten and Herr Blum of course.
I have been taking statements and visited the scene of the offence. Court date is set for next week.
Wish me luck!
Take care and I will write to you soon.
All my love,
Loretta
